Travelers to Anaheim’s Disneyland theme park have a new treat to test out this summer: pineapple churros. As the name suggests, these deep-fried churros are made to resemble the taste of everyone’s favorite Polynesian fruit.
In addition to pineapple flavoring, each pineapple churro is sprinkled with special sugar and cinnamon cubes. The shiny golden sprinkles in this coating shine well under the Californian sunshine, which makes these churros 100 percent Instagrammable.
According to Disney insiders, you can only get this specialty churro at a stand on Main Street by Sleeping Beauty’s Castle. One pineapple churro will set you back $5.25. If you want to add the special marshmallow dipping sauce, you’ll need to spend $1 extra.
The pineapple churro was designed to marry two of Disney’s most famous treats: the churro and Dole Whip. For the uninitiated, Dole Whip is a popular soft serve ice cream that resembles the taste of pineapple.
A few Disney fans who were able to try out the pineapple churro said it tasted remarkably similar to Dole Whip. Some foodies actually bought a cone of Dole Whip and stuck their churro inside for an intense sugar rush.
There’s no word whether these pineapple churros will last longer than the summer, so anyone interested in trying them should do so while they still have the chance. Depending on how well guests respond to these snacks in Anaheim will determine whether Disney tests them in its other theme parks. For now, at least, the pineapple churro is an Anaheim-exclusive treat.
