The time is running out for this year’s season to be able to enjoy a ranching holiday in the northeastern corner of Nevada at the renovated Cottonwood Guest Ranch in Wells. Five generations of the same Smith family have been the owners and operators of the Cottonwood Ranch for over 50 years and have now added Tom and Alecia Maxey as co-owners. Their goal is to give you the ranching experience of your dreams.
Cottonwood Ranch offers a warm, western welcome to their many guests who crave working on a real ranch, unlimited horseback riding, taking part in a variety of special weeks by going on one of four horse drives and camp-outs of six-night duration, on one of three mountain pack trips for five days including a visit to the historic mining town of Jarbidge, cattle round-ups, daily herd monitoring, trap-shooting, watching wildlife and birds, and more.
You would be sure to enjoy the hospitable sanctuary with seven bedrooms and sleeping accommodations up to 19 people and exploring the alpine mountains of the Jarbidge Wilderness, one of the continental United States’ wilderness areas that is the least traveled and which has the highest number of peaks that are more than 10,000 feet in Nevada.
The Ranch is located in the O’Neil Basin that was once the home of cattle rustlers! Its elevation is just above 6,000 feet, and it is said to have the purest air in the lower states of the U.S.
For a unique adventure, swing into a saddle and ride the range and be a working cowboy or cowgirl.
