Bathroom Painting Project - 4
Today's mission: putting up drywall tape! The Gardz was completely dry by the next day, so we began by sticking drywall tape to the exposed drywall seams and to the corners where we'd removed loose drywall paper (and also old drywall tape). The drywall tape we bought had adhesive on one side, but we didn't quite trust its stickiness so after we put it up we decided to spackle over it (which is probably the usual procedure but it was getting to be late). We got our bucket of plaster ready (Flexall Pre-Mixed All-Purpose Patch) and both started spackling over drywall tape for the very first time. I was pretty paranoid about getting everything filled and smooth, but Chip assured me that spackle is very forgiving and easily sanded. Due to the depth differences of the wall, the spackling is going to requre at least two layers.
After we covered all of the tape, holes, and put a layer over the places where we had depth differences due to ripping off the drywall paper, we called it a night. On tomorrow's agenda: sanding the plaster.
