Medieval Times Breaks Ground Near Scottsdale

It was an interesting and colorful sight near Scottsdale on Friday as knights clashed their swords and a regal steed came prancing in on to an empty dirt field. The occasion marked the official groundbreaking of the new Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament site, set to open in early 2019. Company officials gathered with members of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community to mark the ceremonies and give a hint of what is to come when the attraction opens. The 79,0000 square-foot 11th-century medieval castle recreation will be the popular dinner theater’s 10th site. Medieval Times has been in operation for more than 35 years, hosting more than 100,000 shows around the nation and delighting guests of all ages.

Guests will arrive at the castle and be invited to feast on a four-course medieval-style dinner while watching knights battle for honor. The show encourages audience participation as guests are instructed to cheer for the knight in their seating section.

The Scottsdale location will sit on the southeast corner of Pima Road and Via de Ventura and will be the latest venture for the Indian community’s Talking Stick Entertainment District. Also included in this complex is the OdySea Aquarium, Topgolf, Butterfly Wonderland, Salt River Fields, and the Pangaea Land of Dinosaurs. Officials believe that the Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament will be an ideal fit for the growing tourist destination.
